Crazy Man

Dave Sim is the genius who wrote and drew the comic book Cerebus for 30 years.  Most of that series was excellent and will continue to live on as one of the great comics.  Dave Sim, unfortunately, has become progressively more crazy, probably due to living in isolation in Canada, drawing a comic book about a talking aardvark.  Here’s the latest example of his madness.

It has been pointed out that we shouldn’t be surprised when a crazy person behaves in a crazy fashion.  However, it’s not the craziness itself that is surprising, but the specific manner in which that craziness manifests.  After having spent a good dozen years (or more) behaving like a crazy misogynist, he would prefer not to be seen as a crazy misogynist.  That’s certainly a valid desire.  It’s going to be tough to get people to change their thinking, though, and sending out form letters asking them to apply for a position on a Dave Sim fiends list hardly seems the most productive step.

Garfield Made Funny

If you’ve seen the internet lately you’ve seen Garfield Minus Garfield, a comic “about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life.”  Some of those are amazingly brilliant.

You may not have seen Lasagna Cat, which are live-action video recreations of Garfield comics.  A couple of guys have made costumes of Jon, Garfield and Odie and have used special video effects (Lord of the Rings style) to scale full size humans  down to the size of cats and dogs.  This one is particularly good, featuring Jon’s pathetic nature, Garfield’s knack for saying just the right thing to trigger the laugh track and the obligatory video montage.

The Presidential Fury of Future Lincoln!

I cannot take credit for discovering or retelling this amazing tale.

By this point, though, Booth has outlived his usefulness, and after delivering the murder weapon to his boss–a plot point that’s about to be pretty relevant despite never being explained–he’s immediately shot, at which point things start to get way more awesome.

Honest Abe kicks some ass

Because this is where Lincoln comes out of the laser gun and reassembles his atoms thanks to an anti-disintegration pocketwatch he’d been holding for just such an occasion.

You’ll just have to read the whole thing yourself.
